The first business to be established here was in 1862 when Mr. Alexander Stirling built a new home on the site of his former one which had been destroyed by fire the previous year.
Mr. Thomas Jones, bought the Stirling property in 1918. He converted the shop into a general store and his wife Maggie carried on a thriving business for twenty-seven years.
In 1991 renovations were done inside and out and it became the 'Stirling House Eatery'. (Today, it is the Castlegarth Restaurant) |

Have had a cottage on the lake for some 20 years... can only access it by boat. Used the ice on and off dates to gauge when I might be able to access the cottage. I am sure a lot of others looked forward to seeing freeze/thaw dates.

My name is TF and I grew up coming to White Lake every summer for two weeks hanging out with DT.

I was amaze at this site, didn't realize that White Lake had such a nice site. This is great for people coming from outside. We have a place at Bayview Lodge and I thought I would look at this site, it is very well done indeed.
I hope you keep it up to date.

We should take note of the life we enjoy out here in paradise because more and more outside forces are trying to change it. Special interest groups wish to ban hunting and fishing which would severely hurt our tourism business as well as take food from some of our tables. The food products from our local small farms are under attack from big meat producers and government red tape. Local producers grow for their own table so their products don't get growth hormones or substandard feed. We should use these local resources to keep them here as well as exercise our right to hunt and fish.
